Just following up to my previous post about the confusion over Pixum’s free prints offer with good news! The 50 free prints from Pixum link is now working.

I think they may also be feeling a little guilty because they have extended this offer until 31st March 2009.

This puts the number of free digital photo prints available to claim on our Free Photo Prints List to a very healthy 325!

I recently recieved information that the Pixum 50 free prints offer that was due to end at the end of January was going to continue until the end of February 2009.

The 50 free prints offer was only available through a dedicated link. However, the link I recieved from them doesen’t seem to be working as it is directing to a blank page.

I’m afraid, for now, I have changed the Pixum entry on the free photo prints page to 25 free prints – their standard introductory offer for new customers, still not to be grumbled at in my opinion.

The above link will take you to the Pixum website where you will get your voucher code. Make a note of this code and click on “Start your order here” and you will be taken to Pixum’s posters and canvas section. The £4 discount applies to all products in the Posters & Canvas section.

Photo posters at pixum are available in 3 formats – 12″ format, 16″×24″ and 20″×30″. The two larger formats are printed at the actual quoted sizes. With the 12″ format, the shortest dimension of your photo is printed is printed at 12″ and the longer dimension is printed at between 12″ and 18″, depending on you photo’s aspect ratio.

For the best poster print results, Pixum recommend:

• Photos for printing a 12″ format poster (printed at – 1200×1200 pixels to 1200×1800 pixels) should be taken with a digital camera with at least 2 megapixels.
• For 16″×24″ posters (printed at – 2400×1600 pixels), photos should be taken with a camera with at least 4 megapixels.
• For 20″×30″ posters (printed at – 3000×2000 pixels), photos should be taken with a camera with at least 6 megapixels.

Canvas photo prints at Pixum are available in 5 different size formats; 8″×12″, 12″×16″, 16″×24″, 24″×24″ and 24″×32″.

Your favourite digital photo will be artistically printed on to a real canvas and then stretched over and mounted on a wooden frame. Please note that about 1″ of each edge of your printed canvas is folded over and secured to the wooden frame (you may be able to see this in the image on the right), so bear this in mind when taking or editing your photo – don’t have important stuff near the edges! The sizes shown above are for the frame, the actual canvas will therefore actually be about 2 inches longer and wider.

For best canvas print results, Pixum recommend:

• For 8″×12″ canvas prints (printed at 1024×1378 pixels), photos should be from a camera of at least 1 megapixel.
• For 12″×16″ canvas prints (printed at 1378×1772 pixels), photos from cameras with at least 2 megapixels.
• For 16″×24″ canvas prints (printed at 1772×2559 pixels), 4 megapixels.
• For 24″×24″ canvas prints (printed at 2559×2559 pixels), 4 megapixels.
• For 24″×32″ canvas prints (printed at 2559×3346 pixels), 8 megapixels.

Pixum also have a range of framed canvas prints. These are constructed in the same way as the standard canvas prints with the wooden frame but a decorative frame is also added to turn your canvas print into a piece of art, ready to hang on the wall.

You can choose from the “Art” style frame (gold, black or silver) or the “Havana” style frame (red, white or blue) and they are available in the same 5 size formats as the standard canvas prints.

A word about pixum size formats

The various size formats from Pixum refer to the shortest side of the photo print. The length of the longer size will depend on the aspect ratio of your image. For example, if you choose the 4″ format and submit your photos at an aspect ratio of 2:3, your photo will be printed at 4″×6″.

There is limits on the size of the longer side of the photo print and they are as follows:

• The 3.5″ format can be from 3.5″×3.5″ to 3.5″×6.5″.
• The 4″ format can be from 4″×4″ to 4″×7″.
• The 4.5″ format can be from 4.5″×4.5″ to 4.5″×6.5″.

To make the upload of your images quicker and easier you can download Pixums free ePrint Software, which is great for uploading large volumes of prints. You can of course use any of the other uploading methods available including: flash upload, HTML upload, Java upload (perfect for Mac & Linux users), FTP Upload and email upload. You can also place your photo prints order by sending your prints in on a CD or DVD but this is only available for orders of at least £40.

Well, as you can see from the post title, Pixum UK’s popular 100 free prints offer has been extended again, until 31st October 2008. Great news!

Truprints 40 free prints voucher code has sadly ended. However this cloud does have a small silver lining because they have just released another voucher code which allows new customers to receive 30 free photos instead of the usual 20.

The September offers from myPIX have now ended and the new October offers have been released and are on the site. They include: 2 for the price of 1 on canvas prints, 50% extra free on photo packs (worth up to 1200 free prints!) and some great long running voucher codes for £3 off orders over £20, £5 off orders over £30 and £7 off orders over £40!
